Fillings are indispensable for filling cavities, to prevent decay from spreading to neighbouring teeth.

They can also be used to repair minor fractures and should feel natural in your mouth. We can use a variety of materials to create fillings, depending on your unique needs.

Which materials are used to create a filling?

The most common type of material to fill a tooth today is a composite resin (a white filling), which looks like your natural tooth shade.

Does getting a filling hurt?

Here at Dentistry at Holme, we want our patients to feel relaxed and comfortable about their treatment. An anaesthetic is used to numb the specific area of gum, and the area around the affected tooth, so you should not experience any discomfort throughout. Please remember that if you wish to stop at any point, this is completely fine. Rest assured, our patients rarely ever experience any discomfort when having a tooth filled.

Will my filling feel different?

Once your tooth has been filled, the shape will be shaped, so that it fits in with your natural bite. It’s possible that you may notice a difference in the areas that make up the surface of the tooth during the first few days after treatment. Most patients acclimatise to this very quickly.

If you require a filling to treat a cavity or a minor tooth fracture, get in touch by telephone 01484 211 002 or use our online booking form.
