If you’re unhappy with the appearance of your smile, composite bonding can improve the appearance of chipped, gapped, stained, misshapen and cracked teeth.

Here at Dentistry at Holme, our dentists are highly experienced at using this advanced treatment to enhance patients’ smiles. Cosmetic bonding is a minimally-invasive cosmetic procedure that uses layers of composite resin to reconstruct your tooth. Gaps can also be closed and stains can be reversed.

What can I expect from the composite bonding process?

During a consultation chat, we will seek to understand how you would like to improve the appearance of a particular tooth or teeth and create a plan to meet these needs.

On the day of your appointment, we will choose the resin shade that most resembles your natural tooth shade, or of your recently whitened teeth if you have opted for tooth whitening treatment beforehand.

In order to make sure the resin bonds firmly to your teeth, the surface of your tooth is lightly roughened. No anesthetic is required as part of the composite bonding process and you should not experience any discomfort throughout.

Finally, the resin is carefully modelled and shaped, to create an authentic result that’s indistinguishable from a natural tooth. A special light is then used to harden the tooth.

Why choose composite bonding instead of an alternative cosmetic dental treatment?

Composite bonding is a great way to improve the appearance of a tooth for a number of reasons. You will only need to come in for a single appointment to have the process performed, and it’s a minimally-invasive process that preserves the overall structure of your teeth. Veneers, on the other hand, require some of your tooth enamel to be removed.

Composite bonding is particularly appealing to nervous patients, as it does not irritate the teeth or the gums.
